Enjoy the “Dash” Thanks to the Cash
I have a friend who sends me about three or four forwards a day. Photos, links to films, poems, motivational stories.
I'm sure we all have a friend or family member like this. Maybe they all know each other?
Anyways, this particular friend of mine... she must spend 1-2 hours a DAY collecting this stuff. I used to just hit delete as soon they came in. Don't have time for that stuff.
But now I give it a 12 second chance to win my attention. For example, she sent some amusing pictures of animals yesterday that I enjoyed. (I'd share them with you, but suspect she's violating a ton of copyright laws distributing this stuff).
I know it's a waste of time. But it makes me smile. Only took 30-60 seconds out of my day -- made the next 30-60 minutes a little lighter.
Really, I would like to have more time for not only looking at photos of animals and nature, but for spending time out-of-doors with the real thing too.
Both my brother and I, all through high school, thought we'd become forest rangers. Now we both work in front of computers (he's a programmer for a large firm in Hamilton, Ontario).
I've no problem with the fact that I work in front of a computer tower, instead of in a fire tower. My eye sight's not that great -- so probably half the forest would be burned down before I caught on.
Still, there's no denying that for me, fewer hours of work a day, and relocating to an even more rural area than we enjoy now, would be my preference.
Anyways, back to my friend and her endless email forwards. She sent me this link the other day...
You can watch it if you like. It's a slide-show much like the famous one that got passed around the internet a few years ago, The Interview With God. Ryan mentioned in of his interviews that he met the man at a seminar who put up that site. Apparently he grossed over a million dollars the first year (I hope God got a royalty).
Which is why I found this YourDashMovie a little hypocritical. It's all about why you should enjoy the "dash" (moment of quiet reflection) in life more than the "cash." That you shouldn't be chasing after wealth, but sit back and enjoy life.
Of course, once the film is finished a sales page comes up offering you a CD-ROM copy of the slide show, plus an assortment of other products.
They're obviously trying to make cash on The Interview With God train.
Fine. I have no problem with that. Making money is a healthy habit.
My point is... "cash" helps create time to enjoy the "dash." I know how it is to not have much money. I've been there. After high school, I had a year when I made less than $8,000 (hard to imagine now).
I can tell you, I didn't have much time to enjoy the "dash."
Got stuck in a 9-5 rut. My free time was consumed with cleaning, buying groceries, fixing things.
Even with a moderate income it didn't seem to get much better... there still wasn't much time for the "dash." You see this all the time. And when people do have time for the "dash," they are so tired it had better not involve much more than flipping channels on the TV remote.
Whatever "dash" time they do get, they are going to pay for later. How many people end up putting much needed vacations on their credit card? A relative of mine just put down a few thousand to go to Cuba with his girlfriend -- even though he was already $20,000 in debt, from past "dashes."
What I'm saying is... that one of the reasons seeking prosperity is important, is so you can have TIME to relax, to meditate, to exercise, to spend with family. Time, is one of our most cherished possessions.
So you need some cash first. Then you get the "dash."
Cash comes from having something valuable and knowing how to sell it.
Whether you want to help clients sell their products and services, or you want to sell your own "stuff" -- knowing how to write copy is the answer. To write effective copy, you need to understand the real reasons people buy -- the secret truths long known by master salesmen, sociologists, and "con men." You can get them here...

p.s. If you already know how to write profitable copy, then the next step is knowing how to sell your services at a high fee. Anybody can get paid to write copy. Only a few know how to make a HEALTHY income at it. Here's one big step to making it...
