A Subject I Rarely Discuss…
Today, I'm heading into the big city to collect wife and baby (after a four month absence from home). Have a doctor's appointment for baby Jonah that we must deal with first.
Which brings up a subject I rarely talk about…
The only reason I'm going to mention it here at all is because I think it will help give you more courage and determination to succeed with starting or growing your copywriting business -- despite the many reasons why you "can't."
I hardly ever talk about this, because I strongly believe the more you speak and think about what you don't want, the more of it you attract. If you’re in debt, the debt won't go away by focusing on it (instead you'll attract more).
Those who've studied Psycho-Cybernetics -- www.realitycopywriting.com/psycho-cybernetics -- understand the importance of daily applying mental, environmental and habitual practices to re-program your mind to attract success.
Anyways, when I was about five-years old I was outside in the hot and humid Ontario summer climbing trees and playing with the other kids. I tended to get hurt a little more often than the rest (or at least people thought). One day, I hit a post -- or something like that -- and my mother thought it was time to tell me…
...that I was half-blind.
90% sightless in the right eye, with only 80% sight in the left at 20/50 vision. Not too impressive.
"Okay, Mom," I said. "Can I go back and play now?"
Didn't mean much to me then. Though, I do remember that discussion with my mother vividly. As I got older and entered school the contrast between my vision and the other students' was obvious. I ended up suffering a lot of headaches trying to make it in a 20/20 world. Not legally blind, not legally sighted, it was a struggle.
At one point in my life I learned the entire Braille alphabet. Which was a bad move. Well-meaning people directed me to audio books and Braille hoping to give my eyes a rest.
Day by day my eyes got lazier and lazier.
I was given a crutch, when I really needed to learn how to run.
I'll tell you how I went from feeling Braille to reading small print tomorrow. In short, though, I overcame a lot of my vision problems (still no driver's license) and will continue to do so.
The reason I'm bringing this up, is because we found out last week that our new baby Jonah has inherited my retinal deficiencies… plus some.
I don't want to go into details.
I definitely don't want anybody emailing their sympathy.
No sympathy needed here.
If you want to email saying he'll regenerate his eyes by five, I'll accept that.
I re-grow my eyes every few years (we all do) with the same mistakes present. It's my own fault :-).
I also can't imagine how my life would have turned out if it wasn't for this obstacle. I can guarantee you I would NOT be writing you this email. I very well may have got stuck in some minimum wage job I hated, doing mechanical labour.
More on this tomorrow, and how I got out of the rut. For now, I just wanted to say that whatever problems you have in growing your copywriting business -- personal, financial or otherwise -- it doesn't matter. All that matters is how you think, and what you want.
For those who keep on writing, wondering whether $300 is too much to spend on Ad Magic and whether they can do it, despite _____ -- all I can say is just do YOUR BEST. Purchase the darn thing. Put aside time everyday to study it. Get writing copy ASAP. Almost any business would pay you on commission.

Go for it. All you need are right thoughts, a clear image of your goal, and guidance on how to do it. The first two are up to you. The third criteria is right here…

No excuses.
Don't feel sorry for yourself.
An easy life is not a victorious life.
