I'm up at a late hour (for me) tonight. Just got off the phone with a client who wasn't available for an interview until 9pm.
In the process of the interview, we doubled the size and price and of the project he had contracted me for.
The way I usually write ads, sales letters and web copy involves
starting with nothing but a line up of interviews and some
information provided by the client. In other words, the
most basic ingredients.
I can handle that. It feels like I'm going into unknown
territory. I have NO idea how the copy is going to turn out.
At the same time, I always feel a little nervous. "Can I do
this?" "Where do I start?" I sometimes feel like a sculptor
staring at a block of marble, with no idea what he is going to
create. I just start chipping away.
Well, my colleague, John Anghelache, recently sent me a
pre-release copy of his new Copywriting Crash Course. In this
inexpensive ebook (along with several audio recordings) he shows
a better way to get started writing any piece of copy, for any
medium, for any industry.
In fact, as long as you're not trying to beat a big control for
one of the major mailers, you could easily write a profitable
ad, sales letter or website, using this system alone.
