Back around Easter, I announced I'd be abandoning Reality Copywriting. Letting it run on automatic pilot, while I focused on other ventures.
I've been quite silent since then.
Yet, the readers have not been... I've receive a number emails each week saying that they miss the Reality Copywriting column.
Truth is, I miss writing it too. Helps clear my head.
But time is tight. Real tight. So, I'm going to give a real loose, lack-luster go at this, and see if you don't all unsubscribe by the end of the month.
Basically, I'm just going to share whatever comes into my mind, plus an account of what's happening in my ever evolving copywriting career, plus some stories from others in the biz. I hope it continues to prove useful, entertaining and inspiring.
And yes, there will be typos. Truly strange ones at that.
So the next time someone emails saying, "Oh, how can a writer have a typo..." don't expect a reply. And no I'm not going to pay you to proofread it for me. If you proofread these, then I have to reread them to make sure they still sound good, and I don't have the time for that.
Plus, if I start editing these too much, I'll cut out some of the rich content I don't want to give away for free. So it's better for you... and if you don't like it, unsubscribe button below.
On a similar note I just got an email that sort of annoyed me. Shouldn't. I mean for every 20 emails of praise, there's one of negativity. Why focus on the 5%?
Anyway, they accused my email column of really just being a "selling scheme" and "marketing pap."
Uh-huh. My apologies...
A copywriter who sells stuff?! Next, we'll start seeing doctors with scalpels.
Yes, I promote products and services in my emails. Yes, I receive a commission. Yes, this site makes me four-figures a month. Yes, I won't write for free, Yes, I don't think you should either.
Nonetheless, hundreds, yes hundreds, of readers have taken the time to write and say how this ecolumn has helped them stay focused on their copywriting goals. Many who've taken advantage of the various products/services I've recommended have written with appreciation.
And, for the record, I don't recommend anything. Everything I've bought and tested. Many things I have not promoted, that I myself paid for. I don't promote many of Bob Bly and Peter Bowerman's books. They're fine books, but I just didn't agree with many points in them. Still good books, if you followed their directions, you could make six-figures as a writer.
Likewise, I've invested a fair bit in Craig Garber's products. But I just find the man so arrogant, that I don't like being around his content. So I don't recommend it, and actually gave my copies away.
Anyways, I'll keep up these daily emails for the summer, see how the response is. If you find them helpful, show your appreciation and click on my "immoral" affiliate links once and while.
Here's one I highly recommend....

I'll be telling you more about this later. It's Clayton Makepeace's EasyWriters Marketing Club. I've been a member now for two months, and am extremely impressed. Money well spent. Two of the webinars he gave (which is only a small portion of what you get each month) was worth an entire year's membership. I recommend you at least give it a test run for a month-see how it affects your career.

P.S. Big shifts happening in my copywriting career over the next few months. I think it'll interest many of you. After two years of working almost exclusively with small, brick n' mortar businesses, I'm going to start tackling some bigger venues. |
