Fellow Copywriters,

My "bat phone" rang yesterday afternoon. It was my web-designer in Italy. I was wondering what was happening with her, as she usually has all her work done before I even head into the office (being six hours ahead of Ontario).

Anyways, she told me she's calling me from her cell phone (I think that costs about 34.83 euro a minute). The telephone line for their village had been cut.

So she wasn't able to put online the downloadable gift from Jimmy D. Brown and a neat pic I had lined up for today's email. Hopefully, she'll be reconnected to the worldwide net by tomorrow.

So, in the meantime (and since I don't have much time) I thought I'd share with you two emails that arrived in response to the email debate I've shared with you over the last two days.

The first email is from Bruce R. He's shared with me (off the record) a few recent success stories, and I can say he's probably more of a go-getter than me. He's moving fast with his career, and getting paid extremely well. Here's his email, I toned it down a bit...

From Bruce:

I read these last few emails...

Can I comment?

These folks will NEVER be successful copywriters (not even UNsuccessful ones)... I've known many folks like this. They live complete lives of SCARCITY. They brag about finding the cheapest toilet paper, boxes of mac and cheese, and wearing thrift shop clothes..... and EVERYTHING online, information-wise, must be free to them or it's too expensive.

Now, these same 'poor mind-set' people can't understand why they can't sell high priced/high value products with their sales copy.????? ...gee, I wonder why?

Honestly, John these folks aren’t worth 2 seconds of your time....

Best regards, Bruce R

PS, in a future email you should announce you will now be sharing the best places to buy cheap toilet paper, powdered milk, and generic day-old bread, so future copywriters will be able to survive better.

...y'know, better to learn how to live on less and less, than try to learn how to make more....:-) sheeeeeesh.

Then Paul Anderson wrote...

From Paul Anderson:

I received my package of free CDs 2 days ago that you offered through Glazer-Kennedy and have been listening to them.  I think I am now on the 4th one.  This is great stuff!

Listen, if you have people bitchin' about the shipping price or the cost of merchandise you offer, such as the $80 book you just wrote about, you are talking to the wrong audience.  These people are not going to be satisfied with anything you sell or offer for free simply because they don't see the value in it...

John, you've been in this business a lot longer than I have.  I am only studying copywriting and that is why I jumped on your offer for the free CDs.  After spending 100s of dollars for materials from other big named copywriters, I would have to rank high on the list of information those CDs that you offered to me for $19.95.  But I am doing something with it.

Thanks a million!

I love your stuff, John. Your emails are informative and you offer some great stuff.  But, you've got to light the fire and create the dream for those $80 books.  Otherwise, you're inviting the nit pickers to find all the things wrong with the offers while looking for the nits.

Paul is referring to the $798.89 worth of free gifts being offered at...

He was a little reluctant to take up the offer, as he'd been short-changed before by "legal scammers" online. But as you can hear, he doesn't sound disappointed with his purchase.

If you don't have money to pay for something, then, normally you shouldn't buy it. That's my opinion. If all you have is $40 in your wallet, today, you shouldn't spend $50. That is the road to misery. BUT you should take action so tomorrow you have $60.

Of course, it's a little different if you decide to take out a business loan. I did, and don't regret it. Nothing like a few grand collecting interest to get you motivated towards making six figures. If you work at your copywriting career, it'll produce a nice return on investment.

A great place to start is Dan Kennedy's free offer at...

Capture, captivate convert,

John
